Caitlin Hinshelwood is a London based artist and designer who produces distinctive collections of illustrative, hand-worked textiles; often produced as carefully crafted limited editions or unique pieces. Her textiles maintain a strong sense of character and colour is integral to her practice, working with it intuitively to create innovative combinations.

Research interests lie in the narrative possibilities of textiles: how textiles can be used to communicate, how they can act as repositories of personal or social history and how they function in communities. Large-scale works use motifs and symbols to suggest narratives or tell untold histories. Her textiles explore visual-storytelling and pattern-making.

Caitlin is currently Joint Course Leader on BA Textile Design at Central Saint Martins.
